Yep, I got to sneak away for a few days at a first-class property just prior to Christmas.
No, I didn’t go on a dogsled adventure, although that would be very cool in more ways than one. I just wanted to get your attention. So, now that I have it, I’ll tell you a bit about my getaway and why you haven’t seen me around.
You see this was quite an unexpected getaway, that began a few days prior to Christmas. To make a long beginning short, it began when two very kind and caring gentlemen arrived to whisk me away in a fine yellow and green Mercedes with its flashing blue lights. Heck, I didn’t even have to walk to my ride, they rolled me all the way in a comfy bed. One quick hoist and I was tucked in and we flew like the wind to my Christmas getaway.
You see it was a huge and grand resort of sorts located in Lund, Sweden, with a funny name, Skånes universitetssjukhus, SUS. The kind gentlemen left me to rest in a special reception area while they checked to make sure I was qualified to stay in this wonderful place. Yipee, I was! So they rushed me up to the fifth floor or HIC as it is known.
Ok, you figured it out, my Christmas outing was an emergency trip to the Lund University Hospital Heart Intensive Care unit. So, without going into detail, I had extremely good care throughout, and thank God I was treated at one of the leading cardiac hospitals in the world. I was released after a few days, just in time to spend Christmas with Eva and Chloe. I’m on the mend now, but I have a ways to go, so I may not be around as much in the coming days and weeks. But, my resting and recovery will give me time to figure out what in the world I can write about next.

I hope you are continuing to heal and are taking good care of yourself. If I had Chloe’s email, I would check in with her daily! I have to say that I am impressed that, in the middle of a cardiac episode, you had the wit to take photos! You will never cease to amaze me. Be well, my friend. We both send out best.

Oh my Ron – what a scary experience to have during the holidays or any time for that matter. Glad you are okay and that you had the best care possible at the hospital and at home. At first I didn’t realize it was an ambulance – all I could see was a very colorful vehicle and didn’t see “ambulan” Ours are only white! Do take care of yourself and get lots of rest – I’m sure there will be more changes in your life like diet maybe? The best to the three of you in 2021 🙂
Laura L Johnson says

Ron dearHeart – of all the people I know you must be the only one capable of writing the current lines after what you just experienced ! That ability will give your body an excellent boost to heal . . . naturally with the loving care from Eva and the ever-present Chloe. Take care one day at a time, do what the docs tell you and we’ll look forward to seeing you back when the sun again shines in Skane County . . .

Oh, Ron, I am so glad you’re recuperating. I know that an experience like this is frightening and traumatic, but I’m thankful (as I’m sure Eva, Chloe, and the rest of your family is, in spades) that you received excellent care and are home to recover fully. Bless you–you’re on my prayer list now.

Ron you are a born writer, to be able to write such an enthralling account of your health scare and hospital visit, awful at the best of times but what a shame it happened over Christmas. Anyway, so happy for you that you survived to tell the tale. Take care my friend, and lay off the cheese for a while eh? I know, boring!!
Laura says
Ron – I’m so sorry to hear of your “Winter Adventure” – certainly not the holiday of anyone’s dreams. But glad to hear you are on the mend. Best wishes for a complete recovery, and so glad you were able to go to a place with the expertise you needed! I can so identify with that. You, Eva and Chloe are in my thoughts. Health is our most valued possession, isn’t it?

Oh my goodness Ron! Didn’t anyone tell you that the hospital is the last place you should be during the holidays. 🙂 Not a good way to start the holiday season, but at least is did force you to take it easy and get some rest. Glad you were able to go home quickly and spend the holidays with family. Sounds like you did get excellent care and I hope that your recovery is painless and leads to a quick recovery. It is an event like this that tells us it might just be time to slow down and enjoy life at a different pace. Sending thoughts for a quick and successful recovery.

Oh my goodness, Ron! I’m so sorry to hear about this unexpected adventure. You certainly are lucky to have a world-class facility nearby, although I do wish they employed dogsleds or perhaps sleighs driven by reindeer. 🙂 Seriously, though, I’m glad you were able to get back home for Christmas! Take care of yourself, and I look forward to connecting with you again once you’re up and moving about.

I’m sorry to learn of your ordeal but happy that your sense of humor is still in tact…it will go a long way in helping you get better. I’m glad your first priority is taking good care of yourself and I’m sure Eva and Chloe are making sure that happens.

Ron, sorry I am late, but I pray that you are doing well now and will be in the best of health always. Please take care of yourself.

Dear Ron, so many of the above comments reflect what I too think and that, yes, health is indeed wealth. More than two weeks have passed now and I hope you are feeling stronger and better and finding ways to enjoy life despite it all. Just because you have an exquisite sense of humour doesn’t mean you don’t feel unrest or chagrin but I am sure that it does much to heal your body in a parasympathetic sort of way? And though we all deplore and are sick of the pandemic … in some ways, at least you know that lots of people are house-bound just now. So maybe you are not missing out on much … Anyway. here is raising a hypothetical glass to your very good health and wishing you and your loved ones all the very best for this year.
